Delightful seventeenth century farmhouse located up on a small hill above the famed Penedès wine region and just a stone’s throw from Barcelona. Surrounded by vineyards, the property’s large garden offers a great viewpoint over the nearby countryside and the famous mountain of Montserrat. The garden features a private swimming pool (8m x 4m), plenty of garden furniture and a barbecue area.

The house is distributed on three floors. On entering you will find a large arches reception room with sofas. To the left is the kitchen, fully equipped with microwave, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, oven, washing machine and a small breakfast table. To the right of the entrance is a dining-room with seating for 12 people. Stairs lead to the first floor where we find a large living room with sofas, TV and a fireplace. From the living room there is access to five double bedrooms and a twin bedroom. Four of the bedrooms feature en suite bathrooms and there is a further bathroom for the other bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms are very spacious and include a lounge area where the sofas can also be converted into beds for extra guests. One of these bedrooms also has a separate French window entrance onto the garden. In the attic room of the house there is large bedroom with five single beds, ideal for children. Just a step from the main house there is a converted out house which is now home to a spacious double bedroom with sofa and fireplace. Please note that this outhouse has no bathroom of its own and guests use one of the bathrooms inside the main house.

things to do

The Penedès region is famed for its diversity with its roots firmly based around the culture of wine and cava. Situated just inland from the coast the region is well connected to Barcelona and other towns in the area. A visit to a wine or cava cellar (the modernist buildings housing the Freixenet and Codoniu cellars stand out) or to one of the many museums dedicated to their history (in Sant Sadurní or Vilafranca) is a must during any stay in the region. The Montserrat monastery is only 35 km from the house and the beaches of Sitges and Vilanova i La Geltru are just a short drive away.
