The region of La Ribera d'Ebre is the gateway to the Ebre River in Catalonia. Few regions can show a diversity of landscapes so magnificent and admirable.


It is one of the regions least known and most striking of the Ebre Lands and Catalonia. The river has marked the life of the population and sculpted over millions of years their land, which has led to a generous interior valley where you can find river ecosystems, mountains and fields of crops.



Environmental tourism resources:

Sebes Nature Reserve: The inner sections of the river Ebro offers some little-known natural treasures. Some of the riparian forests are best preserved in the Natural Reserve of Wild Fauna Sebes, in the town of Flix. Its trees and the lagoon of the reserve are home to a large number of birds, among which the stork and the marsh harrier, a bird of prey characteristic of wetlands. We can also see the horses that came from the French Camargue grazing between wetlands. The space available viewpoints of birds and elevated walkways on the riparian forest, with small marked routes for walking.

Fluvial Beaches: Along the river Ebro can find several areas where the riparian forest is clear and leaves room for small river beaches, usually with stones. Cultural Resources:

Castellet de Banyoles of Tivissa: The village of Castellet de Banyoles, in Tivissa, is one of the most important Iberian sites in Catalonia. From the remains of ceramics found, estimated to have been inhabited in the fourth century BC. Located in a strategic point, the end of a hill overlooking the river Ebro, to control the river trade between the coast and the interior of the peninsula. Historic Centre of Tivissa: Tivissa's historic center, it preserves the structure of the old urban fabric surrounded by a walled enclosure. The whole, stands the parish church of Sant Jaume Renaissance style, which contains within it a part of an old Gothic church.

Miravet Castle: This is an impressive Arab fortress. Built by the Moors in the ninth century, the castle became one of the last strongholds of Islam in Catalonia. In 1153 it was occupied by Ramon Berenguer IV who gave the order of the Temple. During this period was extended, giving the image that, broadly speaking, has come to today. For its strategic position the Castle will be starring in the big moments in history of Catalonia as the Reapers' War (1640), the Succession (1701-1715) and the Carlist wars of the nineteenth century.

Miravet Historical Center: The historic center of Miravet, stuck in a rock hanging over the river Ebro, lies at the foot of the mighty Templar castle which crowns the town. Its steep, narrow streets retain many porches and some typical houses with lofts and screens. You can also visit the last yard across the Ebro river and the medieval mill varnish. But above all highlight the building of the old Moorish quarter and the Old Church Moorish, Renaissance style.

Chapel of Santa Paulina, Ascó: La Ermita de Santa Paulina, Asco town's patron, is situated in the hamlet of Mas de Prades, on the outskirts of town. Nearby enabled a picnic area and camping. The area enjoys a spectacular natural setting.

Convent, Mora d'Ebre: The Minimum Nuns Monastery, is located in the historic center of Mora d'Ebre and near the waters of the Ebro, is a majestic neo-Gothic building built in 1894. Currently, the religious complex is still occupied by the common minimum, the female branch of the congregation founded by St. Francis of Paula.

Traditional Festivals:

“Caramelles” Flix: Flix is one of the few stocks that preserves the tradition of singing "caramelles" through the streets on Easter Saturday. The group of singers is planted at the foot of the balconies of the houses and performs folk songs accompanied by musical instruments.

Feast of Corpus Christi in Tivissa  and Flix: In these two populations is maintained tradition of decorating the streets to Corpus, where the festive procession and his entourage pass over carpets of flowers to help beautify the streets.

Livestock Show, Rasquera: Rasquera, recalls local traditions with the celebration of the Livestock Show. One of the most representative events of this fair is the descent of the herds of goats that graze during Cardó mountains and Tivissa. The event is complemented by a sample of animals, sale of craft products and a small sample cuisine. Rasquera The Livestock Show is held around the first of May.
